It's not been a week since Zachary was born. He's not lost any more weight, he stabilized at 7.14 lb., they all lose a bit in the first week or so. He is getting more comfortable and establishing a feeding routine. He's awake and alert more often, it depends on what's going on though.

Many new pictures have been taken. I'll post them to the Web Gallery once I get them imported. Elaine hasn't given me a chance to do so, camera hog... Today was his first real bath, well more than just wiping off exposed bits of him. Not that he gets dirty! I got some great pictures during and after. Elaine was shocked at how strong he is, he had himself propped up on both elbows and was holding his head up on his own while she was putting lotion on his little back.

Anyway, more to come later.

Zachary is five days old today. He's been alert and awake for several more hours than previous days. I figure he's fully recovered from the stress of birth. Mom and He took a walk today to pick up Noah and Ruben from school. Elaine says he had his eyes wide open the whole time looking at every thing he could. Given that at his age they can only focus on things up to about 8" away he didn't see much other than blurs and general shapes.

Zachary and Elaine are doing well. He's starting to eat better as he's getting the hang of things and Elaine's milk has started to come in. He's been more alert today than previously, I guess he's been recovering from birth. I can't imagine how hard that is on the babies, not just Mom.

We still can't stop just looking at him too. It's pretty funny. Just sitting there watching him sleep and make funny faces.

Well, I think Elaine and I agree, it's quite different than we remember from being young parents. There's so much to re-learn about taking care of him. But all of it, the lost sleep, worry and concern is all worth it! I know I could just spend hours watching him just sleep.

I do think Zachary has his days and nights mixed up. He sleeps so much during the day and wants to be up and alert when we start to go to bed. Once he's done being alert at about 3AM he does sleep until about 10AM so that's nice.

Zachary Seth Alexander Kinnee was born today, Friday December 14th at 4:26 PM. He's 19" long and weighs 7.14 lbs. I'll get pictures posted shortly for people (does anybody look at this blog?) to look at.
